EMBODIED PERMACULTURE
Land back in your body, land back on the Earth and open to Life
Land back in your body, land back on the Earth and open to Life
This course is for anyone who intellectually knows that they are embedded within nature’s web, but don’t yet have - and long for - a daily embodied, felt experience of being one with Life.
You might be a full-time parent or carer, the CEO of an organisation, a changemaker working in environmental or social justice fields, a teacher, a therapist, a homesteader or none of the above. What's important is the yearning to come back to the centre of Life.
It's for people who know that the problems of the world cannot be solved with the same thinking they were created with, and want to learn to attune to emergent nature-aligned embodied wisdom.
And it's for people who feel like they need to drop down from their busy heads, back into their body and back into deeper relationship with themselves, with other people and with the rest of Life.
Welcome to the Embodied Permaculture Course, a transformational 9-week online self-study programme based on the success of the ground breaking 18-month Alef Trust funded Embodied Permaculture Research Project.
We are at the forefront of two immense challenges:
Yet, the work of changemaking often comes with overwhelming stress, burnout, relational difficulties and the psycho-emotional toll of these urgent demands. How can we shift from operating in survival mode to thriving as changemakers?
By integrating our inner and outer landscapes we can relearn to connect to each other and to the whole of Life in ways that open up true potential for healing, growth, creativity, and emergence and most importantly, open up pathways to the deep transformation that our culture and planet so desperately need.
Led by experienced, passionate guides this program provides an opportunity to:
grounding you in the themes of each week and gradually building your knowledge while offering new perspectives.
to regulate your nervous system, attune to your inner experience, and open up so you feel more and more connected to Life.
to deepen your embodiment, tap into your intuitive knowing, receive insight, and open up the full bandwidth of your body wisdom.
You’ll have lifetime access to all the materials and everything is easily accessible by desktop, laptop or mobile hosted on Mighty Networks.
(This is a self-study course and is highly effective as a solo process, but why not invite a friend, colleague or family member to join you as a practice partner on the journey? Sharing your experience can be a powerful catalyst for further insight and transformation.)
By purchasing this course you also automatically gain FREE access to the Permaculture Community Hub on Mighty Networks where this course lives. This is a fantastic resource to connect with other practitioners and access a wealth of information from around the world.
(After purchasing this course you will be taken directly into the Permaculture Community Hub. To access the Embodied Permaculture course simply click on the course name in the left hand side bar)

“This course has been life-changing for me. It has changed the way I wish to work with Permaculture and deepened in me a sense of feeling and connection and a more natural flow that goes beyond design as a thinking process. Dan and Johanna are incredible facilitators, holding space in a beautiful and unique way and I would highly recommend them and this course.”
“I turned from being busy, irritable and feeling scattered, into a calm "just being", feeling grounded, feeling connected to others and my surroundings, in the now. From my head into my entire body. The project helped me grow into a more whole being. I trust myself, Life and the ground and this trust makes that my life is much more mine now. I do my things wholeheartedly.”
“I’m really grateful for all you gave us…you have helped me see and feel things differently. I now have the tools to respond to permaculture design - and all aspects of life - as nature needs me to. I have learned to step aside from my own needs for particular outcomes, and to align with the way things are in the present moment in whatever setting. I can respond with confidence to benefit natural systems most effectively, sometimes in ways I would never have expected! I see the benefits for nature through groups I am part of, organisations I volunteer with and in my own life through relationships and design work. I can allow nature to work through me.”
“The Embodied Permaculture journey was affirming and enlightening. I made a subtle yet big shift around working as Nature. Even though I have been doing this for many years I had not fully realised. In my mind I was a bridge builder from the Industrial Paradigm to the Natural world. Now I am clear that I work as Nature and do not have to focus on the Industrial paradigm, except to allow the my daily life to function.”
“Doing the embodied permaculture course with Dan and Johanna wasn’t just about learning information, it was experiential and a gentle way of getting to know myself in a different way.”
'I recommend the Embodied Permaculture course with Dan and Johanna to anyone looking for deeper foundations upon which to be and work well in the world. These practices and the connected culture they are rooted in have helped me to ground myself more comfortably between the spiritual, intuitive and the pragmatic and technical fields of permaculture.'
Yes! Practices are designed to take approximately 10-20 minutes a day and while we suggest taking some dedicated time at the start or end of your day, many of the practices are designed to fit into the middle of your life.
Yes! This program is a powerful introduction to embodied presence. If you practice regularly (hopefully daily) you will notice significant shifts in your sense of self and your feelings of deep togetherness with life.
But of course, this is also an introduction and is designed to give you a strong grounding from which to deepen into this approach over time. We hope this becomes a lifelong journey of connection and wellbeing.
We offer a variety of meditative breathing, stillness, movement and awareness practices that are flexible, easy to try and require no previous experience. And most importantly, they feel really good!
The program is practical and grounded in nature-based techniques, patterns and principles. Our only foundational orientation for this course is that we are a part of the beauty and mystery of life and not something that stands apart from the rest of nature. If that feels true to you and you’d like to feel that in your body, then you’re good to go!
The course is designed for self-study and works very well as a solo journey of embodiment. That being said, it came out of a body of work that involved both individual and group practice and we know that for some the power of sharing this with others can be really powerful. Finding a friend, colleague, family member or even a small group of people who would like to share this journey can deepen the process and support you as you progress through the course. But, just to emphasise again, this course is very effective as a self-study experience.
Yes! The material from the course was developed and created as part of the 18-month live research project. We have now distilled learning from across the 18-month body of work to provide you with an introductory but overarching experience of the original programme.
And by taking part in this course, you are contributing to the ongoing evolution and exploration of embodied permaculture internationally!

The course lives on Mighty Networks (in the Permaculture Community Hub). It's simple to use and there is a mobile app which means you can access all the content easily wherever you are. This is important because embodied presence is a whole life practice and it can be very helpful to practice while at work or during your day.
The best place to get to know us and our approach to embodied changemaking is to check out our substack. It's full of helpful writing and podcasting.
Absolutely not! While this course came out of our relationship with permaculture and permaculture practitioners, we see this course as being for anybody interested in co-creating "the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible", as Charles Eisenstein puts it so eloquently. If you feel called to deepen in relationship to yourself and through yourself to the living world, then you will benefit from this course. Just listen inside, and if that call is there, then please join us. No prior permaculture knowledge required.
This course is not intended to teach you about permaculture per se. It is designed to sit alongside any permaculture, ecological learning or any other work you are doing. The purpose of this course is support you to feel connected to yourself and connected to the world while you live your life. This is an introduction to an embodied experience of doing the work you love. That could be permaculture or it could be something else, the principles and practices will serve you well regardless. If you are looking for more explicit permaculture training we recommend and Intro or PDC course.
While this course is designed to support those near the beginning of their journey into embodiment practice many people who have been engaged for years already have found benefit from the perspectives and practices shared in the course.
Join us on this 9-week journey of embodied transformation.
Reconnect with your deeper self, align with the flow of Life, and unlock your true potential as a regenerative changemaker.
